Genesis-02
Lesson 2
This topic is not good to the enemies of God. To understand why there are a lot of sufferings in this world. Have you often wondered if God is good, why is there so much suffering in this world? If God is a good God why are some children born with birth defects? Do some wives suffer from the brutality of their husbands?
You will understand what is going on in this world unless we all go back to the fundamentals. We need to go back to the Bible to see what is happening.
God is a wonderful God. Look at his provision in
Genesis 2:8 –God blessed us in a beautiful place. He planted a garden for us
Genesis 2:9 – Every tree that is pleasing to the sight of God
What kind of God do we have? He is good!
Genesis 2:15 - Background of our study
Genesis 2:16 – What is the command?
He gave them the permission to eat except.
Genesis 2:17 – What is sin based on this verse?
Sin is disobedience. Sin is anything contrary to the expressed will of God. God gives us everything good except he says this is my guidelines.
God gave instruction once to man.
Man – you are responsible of your family
Genesis 2:18 – Goodness of God when he saw Adam was alone.
How many times did you find the word "good"?
Genesis 1:31 – very good
Genesis 2:18 – He wanted man to be happy.
He invented the first family.
Now why do we have suffering? If God designed intimacy, happiness, why is there suffering?
Genesis 3:1 – Serpent – who is this?
Reality of Satan
Revelation 12:9 – who is the serpent. What are the names of Satan?
Serpent of Old
Great Dragon
Divider – “diabolos” means divider
Satan – the deceiver of the world
Satan is not alone – with his angels.
What is the origin of Satan?
Military training – we must know our enemy!
Christians are wiped out at home because they do not know their enemy.
What can we learn from the Bible about Satan?
- Satan is a created being.
He was created perfect.
Colossians 1:16 – all things, includes angelic and spiritual beings.
If God is a good God, how did Satan appear in Genesis 3:1?
When God placed man in the garden, we are introduced to a character – Satan
Between chapter 2 and 3 something happened. We don to know how long this took.
Ezekiel 28:12-13 - Superficially. This verse talks about he king of
Scrutiny we see that these verses are talking about Satan.
You were in the garden.
Outline
- Satan was created Perfect
- Satan was privileged – Ezekiel 28:13
- Satan had leadership position (exalted position) – Ezekiel 28:14
- God created angelic beings perfect.
Ezekiel 28:17 - your heart was lifted up because of your beauty

I will
I will
I will
Spirit of Satan - I will versus God’s will
God could have created angelic beings and made them like robots.
Look at your life and see your Spirit. "I will"
Habit of exalting ourselves? That is Spirit of the Enemy
What destroyed Satan? Pride
Titles of Satan found in the Bible
- Great Dragon – Revelation 12:9
- Deceiver – Revelation 12:9
- Accuser of the Brethren – Revelation 12:10
Accuse? If you have confessed, and then you are feeling unworthy, Satan is giving you false guilt
Revelation 12:12 – Jesus overcame Lucifer through his blood. The devil knows his time is
short, so he works overtime.
- God of this World – 2 Corinthians 4:4 – Blinded the eyes of the unbelieving
Need to pray for people that their eyes would be opened because Satan blinds them
- Angel of Light – 2 Corinthians 11:14
- Roaring Lion - 1 Peter 5:8 –
- Prince of the Power of Area –Ephesians 2:2, 6-11 – Problem is not people but Satan
There are demonic strongholds because the enemy is real.
Genesis 3 – Satan uses people
Genesis 3:1 – Serpent, was craftier. Satan’s strategy, schemer
What did he tell Mrs. Adam? Has God really? He now attacks the character of God.
Insinuates God is selfish, insecure, hiding something from you, preventing you from experiencing the fullness of life.
Genesis 3:5 – Satan’s false promises
Many people think that if I do it my way, I will be happy. If I do it God’s way he will be sad.
Genesis 3:5 – your eyes will be opened. Were their eyes opened? Of course. You will be like God. What is God’s plan? He wants us to be like him, because we were created in his image. Satan’s way is different. You will be like God. Let us look at our lives and the temptation to be God. A lot of God’s people don’t believe that God has their best interest at heart. Deep down in their heart, they are not convinced that God is good and wants the best for you. We are stubborn. If you doubt the character of God, that is Satan’s temptation. Satan is a liar, did Satan tell them what would happen to them?
What is the benefit of knowing good and evil? Know – experiential – experience good and evil.
Example of our children: I tell them there are certain things that you must not experience until the right time. Sexual intimacy. Does God want us to enjoy sex? Of course
Genesis 3:6 – Was Eve stupid? No.! What can you learn about the temptation of Eve?
Her perception was delightful good. Why didn’t Eve focus on the other trees in the garden? Why did she focus on the forbidden tree?
Satan’s strategy is always to make you focus on what you do not have instead of enjoying what you have from God. God wants to bless us in his time.
In her own judgment she thought this was best for her.
According to all that you have discussed, what is sin? Sin is following our way versus God’s way. When you seriously think your way is better than God’s way that comes from whom? Satan!
What kind of thoughts comes from Satan?
What happened when they committed the sin? Both their eyes were open.
The first thing we learn from sin is there is immediate gratification.
Immediately they experienced happiness – their eyes were opened.
After that what happened? What were the consequences?
Genesis 3:8 – they hid. Why? Once you experience intimacy with God, you don’t want to experience separation/fellowship broken. Sin makes you distant from God.
Genesis 3:9 – What is the heart of God? Did God know where they were?
He takes the initiative. He takes the first step. All the time. When you have done something wrong, God takes the first step. This time God asks us where are you? How are you doing spiritually? Are you walking with God or are you hiding?
Make a decision to follow God.
Summarize: Who is our enemy? Satan! Strategy is to deceive, cast doubt. His goal is to stop us from experiencing the fullness of life to enjoy Satan’s purpose? To cause people to turn away from God. He asks where are you spiritually? Come to God and he will let you experience his presence, forgiveness and fullness. When you are in sin, don’t blame people. Look to God. Lord, here I am. I acknowledge my tendency to be the king of my life.
